This comes amid reports of the selectors wanting to replace him with Babar Azam as the skipper ahead of T20 World Cup 2024. As per reports, the selectors have travelled to Kakal to convince the ex-skipper to take up the role as the leader once again.

As per GeoNews, the selectors cited various reasons as to why they wanted to replace Shaheen as the skipper. However, the current T20I captain refused to accept any of the reasons. Further, the controversy is the topic of discussion among the players who are currently training at an Army camp in Kakul.

Babar Azam to take over as PAK captain?
As per Cricket Pakistan, the selectors will travel to Kakul in their attempt to convince the ex-skipper. Reportedly, Azam has expressed interest to lead the team across all three formats if he is named the T20I skipper.
Sources tell Cricket Pakistan that those close to Azam are advising him to place all his demands in front of a vulnerable PCB. The board is most likely to announce the new skipper on Sunday. Rizwan is being considered the alternative if Babar doesn’t accept.
