Shaheen Afridi Mecca: Pakistan’s star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has performed Umrah. Shaheen kept it simple and captioned the picture by writing just “Alhamdullilah” — an Arabic word to express gratitude — with the praying hands emoji as the picture said it all.

The 22-year-old is currently undergoing rehabilitation at National High-Performance Center (NHPC) Lahore and decided against participating in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Earlier, while training with the national team ahead of the recent one-day international (ODI) series against New Zealand, Shaheen had said he was feeling better and set to make a comeback very soon.

“Staying on the sidelines was tough for me. I decided to participate in the T20 World Cup because the team needed me. If I was running in to bowl in the T20 World Cup like I’m doing now, the result would have been different,” Shaheen said.

Shaheen was also disappointed about missing the home season, which included tours by England and New Zealand. “I was upset about missing the home series against England and New Zealand. I wanted to play in front of my home crowd and help the team win,” he added.

Shaheen’s return to international cricket will be subject to the fast-bowler’s successful completion of the rehabilitation programme and following go-aheads by the medical staff. The lanky pacer will lead Lahore Qalandars during the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where his side are the defending champions.
