Shafali’s mother Parveen Bala was ecstatic after her daughter led the team to glory in the rainbow nation. Speaking to Tribune India, Shafali Verma mother said that her daughter made them proud again by winning the World Cup for the nation. She said “Now, we are eagerly waiting for her arrival at home to accord her a grand welcome. She will come to Rohtak in March after participating in the World Cup (Senior) scheduled in February,”.

Shafali’s elated father Sanjeev Verma spoke about his daughter made the promise of winning the World Cup. “We talked to Shafali yesterday about the strategy for the final match. She was quite confident about creating history by winning the World Cup and promised me to bring this coveted trophy to India. I advised her to play her natural game without any pressure. All players of team India performed well paving the way to win the title,”.

Under-19 T20 World Cup: Highlights from India’s win against England
Shefali Verma and her team were one of the favorites to win the inaugural title in South Africa. The young girls delivered on the big stage in emphatic fashion beating England by 7 wickets in the final. Bowling first, India bowlers bowled brilliantly to shot out the English team for mere 68 runs in 17.1 overs For India Titas Sadhu and Archana Devi bowled well reducing England to 22/4 after six overs,
Sadhu in her four overs went for just six runs and picked up two wickets. Devi was slightly more on the expensive side conceding 17 runs but also picked up wickets of of Scrivens and Niamh Holland (10).
Shafali Verma started aggressive knocking 15 runs from 11 balls before being dismissed by Hannah Baker. Scrivens removed Shweta Sehrawat. Soumya Tiwari and Gongadi Trisha had a composed partnership keeping India on track in their run chase. The pair got to within one hit of the target when Trisha went for glory and was cleaned up by Alexa Stonehouse. Soumya Tiwari knocked a single to see it through with an unbeaten 24 from 37 balls. Following the victory BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced a prize worth 5 crores to the team and the staff.
