Selectors want Ishan Kishan to start road to India comeback by resuming domestic red-ball cricket

Ishan Kishan has been asked by the selectors to resume playing domestic cricket as the first step in his road to India comeback

Out of favour wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has been asked to resume playing domestic red-ball cricket and will play in the Duleep Trophy. As per Indian Express, the selection committee wants the southpaw to resume red ball cricket in order to commence hi journey towards making a comeback for India.

Selectors’ plans for Ishan Kishan

The report stated that another opportunity has been thrown at Ishan Kishan and that this time it is in the form of red ball cricket. The southpaw has been sidelined ever since January 2024 and faced a further blow when he was snubbed from the BCCI Central Contract. After having a sub-par outing in IPL 2024, Kishan was sidelined once again from India’s squad for the T20 World Cup.

The selectors, as they have said earlier, insist on all the players in the national side barring three bigwigs to play domestic cricket during the international break. The keeper-batter has made himself available for Jharkhand in the Buchi Babu tournament – a day/night match tourney.
