Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan will be a part of India B’s second game of the Duleep Trophy which will begin on September 12. The prolific batter will continue to be a part of the tournament despite being named in the squad for IND vs BAN series. Meanwhile, other India B players named in India’s Test squad – Yash Dayal, Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal – have been released from the squad.

As per reports, Sarfaraz Khan will join India cricket team in Chennai following the conclusion of India B’s second match in the Duleep Trophy. Rinku Singh, Aaqib Khan, Suyash Prabhudesai and Himanshu Mantri have been named in India B’s squad following the departure of those named in India’s Test squad. Sarfaraz’s participation in the game casts aspersions on his inclusion in India’s XI for the 1st IND vs BAN Test which will begin on September 19 in Chennai.

Meanwhile, a BCCI official on Monday stated that KL Rahul would be given preference in the XI over Sarfaraz Khan. He added that the Mumbai batter would be the first-choice to replace any injured player in the team.
“Sarfaraz has done everything right, and if an opportunity arises, he will be the first to step in,” said the official. The team management is carefully balancing the need for youth and experience as they look ahead to more significant fixtures,” a BCCI official said.
