Indian players injury update before IPL 2025
Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah, the Mumbai Indians’ ace pacer, has been sidelined since the Border Gavaskar Trophy due to a back stress injury. While Bumrah is expected to be cleared for play by the end of this month, no exact return date has been announced. The Mumbai Indians are scheduled to play three IPL matches this month, and Bumrah is likely to rejoin the team for their home game on March 31, with a possibility of joining the camp even earlier.
Sanju Samson
Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson, who underwent surgery on his right index finger following an injury sustained during the T20I series in England, is also awaiting clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Reports suggest he could be cleared soon. The Royals kick off their IPL campaign on March 23 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
LSG pace trio
Meanwhile, the Lucknow Super Giants face uncertainty over their three pacers, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Avesh Khan, who are all awaiting clearance from the NCA. Mayank, the 155.8 km/h sensation, has been out since October 2024 with a back strain, while Avesh is undergoing treatment for knee cartilage issues.
There is no clarity on Mohsin’s condition, as his last match was a brief spell of 5.5 overs on December 31. However, reports indicate that two of the trio are likely to be cleared in time for LSG’s first IPL game.
