It looks like Sanju Samson is leaving no stone unturned in order to prepare for the T20Is against Sri Lanka. Only T20Is because he was snubbed from the One-day internationals despite scoring a century in his last 50-over format match. The Kerala-born keeper was notably the only member from the T20Is to practice on the eve of the opening T20I between India and Sri Lanka.

Only Sanju Samson in practice

Insidesport’s Abhishek Shetty, who is in Pallekele currently, revealed that Friday’s (July 26) training sessional was an optional one for Team India. Samson, however, was the only individual from the 15-member squad, who practiced and even took time to click pictures with local fans at the stadium. Will Samson play 1st IND vs SL T20I?

Gautam Gambhir will have a tough choice to make between Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant. Both are phenomenal wicket-keepers in their own right. However, it looks like only of these two will find a place in the starting XI in the opening T20I. Given the selection hierarchy, and Pant’s X-factor, the management is likely to go ahead with the Delhi Capitals captain. India tried Pant at number three at the T20 World Cup 2024 and are likely to continue with their winning combination.
