With the India vs Bangladesh T20I series starting in under a week, Sanju Samson has begun his preparations. Coming from playing first-class cricket (Duleep Trophy), the wicketkeeper batter has decided to travel to the Rajasthan Royals (RR) High Performance Centre in Nagpur to get into the white-ball groove.
Sanju Samson’s red-ball form
Samson hasn’t been in the best touch for India in T20Is. He scored 70 runs in Zimbabwe in 3 matches and failed miserably against Sri Lanka, recording back-to-back ducks. But, since he’s found some form, albeit in red-ball cricket. Samson hit his first first-class hundred in nearly 5 years two weeks ago and showed that he mustn’t be forgotten. But failed to get a call-up for the Irani Cup.
Big opportunity
However, now that the T20I season has arrived, he’ll shift his focus to his best format. As mentioned above, he’s failed in his last two appearances and would like to show he deserves a place. Jitesh Sharma has been selected as the second keeper, and Samson would have to make sure he outshines him so that when Rishabh Pant returns, he makes the squad ahead of others.
