During the recent ODI series in New Zealand, stand-in skipper Shikhar Dhawan explained the reasoning behind Samson snub.
“Mostly every player goes through this phase of not being in the playing XI, even if they have performed well last series. Communication is the key, coaches and captain speak with players. Players like Samson then have clarity as to why he is not picked in the team. Basically, it is all about the benefit of the team, and due to team combinations,” Shikhar Dhawan said.

What’s next for Sanju Samson post-Bangladesh snub?
With the Bangladesh tour being the last series of the 2022 season, Samson will have to wait until next year. India will have three home series lined up during the month of January and February. The home series will begin against Sri Lanka. The India vs Sri Lanka series will be three-match ODI and T20I series.
Following the Sri Lanka series, India will face Australia and New Zealand. The men in blue will host the kiwis for a white ball series. The series against Australia will be seven-match series which includes four Test and three ODI’s.
With no spot in international cricket, Sanju Samson has decided to go back to domestic cricket for practice as well as create an impression on selectors.
