Sanju Samson hits back critics with classy half-century in make or break ODI

Sanju Samson has hit back his critics with a classy half-century in make or break IND vs SA 3rd ODI to keep T20 World Cup 2024 door open.

In and out of India Cricket Team, Sanju Samson has hit back in his make-or-break IND vs SA 3rd ODI with a classy half-century. While a fifty may not be enough, his 66-ball fifty will send a reminder to the selectors. India were in a tough situation in the 3rd ODI at Boland Park. Down at 49/2, Sanju Samson partnered with KL Rahul to steady the ship.

While KL Rahul fell for 21, Sanju Samson continued to rebuild after he was promoted to No 3 slot.

However, Gautam Gambhir on the Star Sports commentary panel sent a reminder, saying, a fifty is not enough for him.

Sanju Samson needs to build on his start and hit the magic three-digit mark. Only with a big knock, he can actually send a notice to the selectors to keep the doors open for T20 World Cup 2024.

The Rajasthan Royals captain was criticised after he dragged a delivery back to his stumps in the IND vs SA 2nd ODI as he fell for only 12 runs.

“He’s not had a real extended run. But he’s had opportunities in back to back games. It was quite a typical, Sanju Samson dismissal. You know, he finds ways to get out when at times he shouldn’t. He’s a little shuffle playing away from his body. We see that often. It’s ok on surfaces in India to be playing away from your body when the ball doesn’t do much,” Simon Doull said while speaking to Star Sports.

“But it’s nipping around a little, quite a fraught with danger, that type of shot, you see the angle of the bat at 45 degrees. It’s not a classical straight bat shot. He sort of wants that wand outside the line of off-stump far too often, and I think that’s what people get frustrated with Sanju,” Doull added.
