Samson & Dube fail! Rating every Indian batter’s performance in IND vs BAN T20 WC warm-up

India played their only T20 World Cup 2024 warmup game against Bangladesh in New York. Let's see how did every Indian batter fared in their batting innings

The much-awaited T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up fixture between India and Bangladesh kicked off in New York on Saturday (June 1). All eyes were obviously on the Men in Blue, who were scheduled just one practice game ahead of the ICC mega event. Notably, India won the toss and chose to bat first, in order to give every batter enough game time. Barring Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli and Axar Patel, all established batters in the 15-man squad got their chances. The Rohit Sharma-led side made 182/5, striking at a rate of 9.1.

India vs Bangladesh T20 World Cup warmup: Batter Ratings

Rohit Sharma (7/10):

Skipper Rohit endured some tough deliveries against Shoriful Islam. While he did hit some boundaries, Rohit tried something different during his 19-ball stay. He swept and reverse-swept against spin. Fans were, however, left disappointed as he lost his wicket for 23.

Sanju Samson (1/10):

A surprising move to slot him as an opener, Sanju Samson had a tough start to his T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. He got a superb in-swinger by Islam that trapped him in front of the stumps on a 6-ball 1. It is likely that Samson might not get into the first XI against Ireland.

Rishabh Pant (9/10):

Donning India’s jersey after 524 days, Rishabh Pant looked like million dollar player. His range-hitting was on show as he hammered 52 off 32 balls. He smashed slog sweeps, one-handed sixes, and some fabulous strokes over covers. The southpaw retired himself out after reaching to his fifty milestone.

India Cricket

Suryakumar Yadav (7/10):

SKY, who will be perhaps India’s most important batter at T20 World Cup, seemed in his usual groove. He got the hold of the surface quickly but tapered off in the second half of his knock. He made 31 off 18 balls.

Shivam Dube (2.5/10):

Ever since his selection for the World Cup, Shivam Dube has looked a shadow of himself. Once again, the swashbuckling southpaw struggled on the crease. His feet movement was quite odd, making just 14 off 16. While he hit one six, Dube got two reprieves – a dodgy start to his maiden T20 World Cup.

Hardik Pandya (9/10):

Player, who endured some heavy bashing, Hardik Pandya was the man with purpose for India. He played with immaculate intent and hammered 40 off 23. The hat-trick of sixes was the major highlight of his knock. The swagger in him was evident, which is a great news for Team India.

Ravindra Jadeja (3/10):

Came to bat within 17 overs, Ravindra Jadeja failed to make an impact. He looked scratchy and even got a lucky stumping call go his way. By the end of the innings, Jaddu only made 4 off 6.
