During the 8th over, KL Rahul took a stellar catch in his second attempt to dismiss Shai Hope. Rahul made the decision to abandon the wicketkeeping duties for the match against Delhi Capitals, with Quinton de Kock taking over behind the stumps for the crucial showdown in the playoffs race.

Positioned in the covers, Rahul had a crucial moment when Hope drove the ball in the air, initially fumbling but ultimately managing to secure the catch on the second attempt, dismissing the Windies star. Following the wicket, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka rose to his feet, visibly applauding the skipper’s efforts on the field.

This was a refreshing change from how the LSG owner was seen lashing out at the skipper following their loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad which put a serious hit to their playoff hopes. Goenka was immediately called out for his behaviour with fans demanding him to apologise to the India star for so. However, Goenka had hosted Rahul for dinner ahead of the IPL 2024 match between Lucknow and Delhi, where they shared a heartwarming embrace, accompanied by smiles all around.
