Samjhana Khadka’s innings help Nepal women’s cricket team create history!! Clinches first-ever win in Women’s T20 Asia Cup

Nepal finished as semi-finalists in the ACC Women's Premier Cup in February 2024. In March, the qualification came as the Asian Cricket Council announced that semi-finalists of that tournament would be eligible to play in the T20 Asia cup.

Nepal’s women’s cricket team has etched their names in history, securing their first-ever win in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup. This victory comes after nine matches across the previous Women’s T20 Asia Cup, marking a significant occasion for the team.

Nepal previously participated in the 2012 and 2016 editions, playing eight matches without a win. They narrowly missed out on qualifying for the 2018 and 2022 tournaments. However, a rule change in March 2024 granted them entry into the 2024 edition, and they’ve capitalised on the opportunity and made an upset in the tournament.

Talking about the match, Nepal opted to field first, they restricted UAE to a score of 115 for 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Chasing the target, Nepal’s opener Samjhana Khadka showcased her spectacular performance.

Samjhana played a brilliant knock. She smashed an unbeaten 72 runs off just 45 balls. This innings helped reach the total in 16.1 overs with only 4 wickets lost. Indu Barma shone with the ball, claiming 3 crucial wickets for Nepal.
