Salt on Wounds! Team India sanctioned after WTC Final

After time allowances were taken into account, it was determined that Australia was four overs short of the target and Team India was five overs short.

Large fines were imposed on Australia and Team India for their slow over rates during the ICC World Test Championship Final (WTC Final 2023) at The Oval. On day five of the WTC Final in south London, an energised Australia defeated India by 209 runs.

And it was announced shortly after the play on Sunday ended that Australia would forfeit 80% of their match money. While India will lose all of their match fees for their slow over rate.

Players are penalised 20% of their match fee for each over their team fails to bowl in the permitted time, as stated in Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.

Shubman Gill of Team India also fined!
