Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar have been friends for decades. The former Indian teammates have had their share of ups and downs, with the Multan incident being the most famous one. However, the two legends of cricket have always shown nothing but admiration for each other.
As the current Indian head coach celebrates his 51st birthday, Tendulkar wasted no time to wish his friend a happy birthday.
Posting an image of the duo playing a Test match for India, Tendulkar wrote:
“Happy birthday to my teammate and friend, Rahul Dravid. Wishing you the best of health and happiness. May this year bring lots of joy and success.”
Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar played together for the India cricket team for 16 years. Such was the case that, out of Dravid’s 164 Test matches, the duo played 146 together. Their 146 Test matches played together as teammates happen to be the most for any two cricketers in the sport’s history.
However, their on-the-field partnership wasn’t limited to Test cricket. Dravid and Tendulkar also played 245 ODIs together and held the record for the highest partnership in ODIs (331 runs) for 16 years.
