Indian cricket great Sachin Tendulkar on Saturday praised England fast bowler James Anderson for becoming the first pace bowler ever to reach 700 Test wickets. Tendulkar said that it was unbelievable that a fast bowler could play for 20 years and pick 700 wickets, but Anderson had done just that.
On Saturday, Anderson made history by becoming just the third bowler in history to reach 700 wickets in Test cricket and the first pacer in the history of the game. This milestone was reached by the legendary English pace sensation, who will turn 42 in July, during England’s fifth and final Test match against India in Dharamshala.
Sachin discussed his initial thoughts of Anderson when he watched him play against Australia back in 2002 on X (formerly Twitter). The batter claimed that his ball control appeared exceptional at the time.

“The first time I saw Anderson play was in Australia in 2002, and his control over the ball looked special. Nasser Hussain spoke very highly of him back then and today, I am sure, he would say, “Maine bola tha” — that he had called it so early. 700 test wickets is a stellar achievement. A fast bowler playing for 22 years and performing so consistently to be able to take 700 wickets would have sounded like fiction until Anderson actually made it happen. Simply magnificent!” tweeted Sachin.
