India’s skipper Rohit Sharma was once again involved in a comical DRS drama on the third day of the IND vs ENG 4th Test in Ranchi on Saturday. Rohit, who has had a mixed record with the review system, made a last-second call to challenge an LBW decision in favour of England’s captain Ben Stokes.
The incident occurred in the 30th over of England’s second innings, when left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja trapped Stokes on the pad with a sharp turner. The umpire ruled it not out, but Jadeja was confident that it was hitting the stumps. Rohit consulted with his teammates, who gave him conflicting opinions. With the time running out, Rohit said “Kuch seconds baaki hain, sab log dimaag lagao (Only a few seconds left, put your heads together).”
The skipper eventually took the DRS call but the replayed showed umpire’s call which saved the England skipper.
The hilarious conversation left the commentators in splits. Dinesh Karthik, who was on air, called the Indian skipper a real character on the field.
