New Playoffs Structure
The 2024 edition of the T20 tournament will see new playoffs structure. The top four teams will qualify for the playoffs, with the first-placed team taking on the fourth-placed team and the second-placed team playing against the third-placed team in the semi-finals. The winners of these matches will then face each other in the final.
To attract more crowd to the stadium, the board has planned earlier 3 pm local time start for Sundays. All double-headers will be played on weekends.
Former South Africa skipper and SA20 commissioner, Greame Smith expressed his excitement while unveiling the schedule. “With the Season 2 auction around the corner, the momentum is building and we are thrilled to announce these fixtures.
“It was fantastic to see all the fan support in year 1. Fans can mark their calendars and expect to see more of what they experienced last summer. The same vibe, entertainment, and world-class international and local talent in Season 2,” he added.
Mini Auction to take place on September 27
The franchises have announced their retentions and they will add new players during the upcoming mini-auction on September 27. The mini-auction will see each team with increased salary purse of R39.1 million.
