T20 World Cup 2021 LIVE: Super 12 Points Table

“We didn’t bat well and it’s disappointing to start our tournament like that, being defending champions. But we have to accept it and take responsibility for what happened out there. We have to put this game to bed and move on,” ICC quoted Pollard as saying.

“We just need to go back and look at the way we’ve performed and see if we can maybe find a medium as to how we approach it. It’s very important we forget a game like this. For us, it’s pretty simple – accept and move on,” he added.

Pollard was one of ten batters to fall for a single-figure score as his side were skittled for 55 in a rematch of 2016 final, a score England needed just 8.2 overs to surpass as West Indies’ net run-rate took a sizable early dent.

On the other hand, South Africa lost to Australia by 5 wickets after a clinical bowling performance from Australia. Except for Aiden Markram, the entire batting department failed to leave a mark.

  • Like WI, the Proteas will be looking to come up with a strong performance and put a big total on the scorecard.
  • They will be looking to return back to track in a bid for their maiden T20 trophy.
  • Quinton de Kock, in particular, will have to score big while the skipper Temba Bavuma needs to lead from the front.
  • Rassie van der Dussen and David Miller will provide a mix of youth and experience in the middle with Heinrich Klassen’s ability to provide a big finish.
  • The bowling department has been rock solid with the likes of Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada.
