SA beat SL: De Kock, Hendricks shine as South Africa clean sweeps Sri Lanka with 10 wickets win: South Africa registered a thumping 10 wickets win over Sri Lanka in the third and final T20I in Colombo on Tuesday on the back of fine fifties from both the openers- Q de Kock (59* off 46) and R Hendricks (56* off 42) and also clean swept the hosts in the three-match T20I series. Chasing 121, both Q de Kock and R Hendricks looked good from the start and kept playing sensibly as they notched the highest partnership for SA against SL in T20Is.
Opting to bat, Sri Lanka faced early blows as Avishka Fernando, D Chandimal, and Bhanuka Rajapaksha departed cheaply within the powerplay. Kagiso Rabada and B Fortuin provided early breakthroughs to the visitors in the powerplay while A Markram and Keshav Maharaj took the charge in the middle overs. The hosts have posted a total of 120/8 on the back of a crucial knock from Kusal Perera (39 off 33) and late hitting from C Karunaratne (24* off 19). Bjorn Fortuin and Kagiso Rabada were the picks of the bowlers as they picked two wickets each.
South Africa has now won seven T20Is in a row – three against Sri Lanka, three against Ireland, and one against West Indies – Isn’t it a good momentum ahead of the T20 World Cup in Oman and UAE in October?
