Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen taught India another lesson after poor bowling. After asked to bat, De Kock slammed ton while Dussen hammered another half-century, helping South Africa post 287 run target in the 3rd and final ODI at the Newlands in Cape Town on Sunday.

India made four changes to their line-up to avoid a whitewash humiliation. While Ruturaj Gaikwad missed out on an opportunity, Suryakumar Yadav, Jayant Yadav, Deepak Chahar & Parasidh Krishna made it to the playing XI. The likes of R Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Venkatesh Iyer & Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been dropped for the final ODI at Newlands, Cape Town
However, it didn’t quite work out. After Deepak Chahar struck in the powerplay, Quinton de Kock continued to hammer Indian bowlers partnering Rassie van der Dussen, adding 144 for the third wicket. In the end, India did pick quick wickets to restrict South Africa for 287 runs but it was difficult.

During the chase, after KL Rahul departed early, Shikhar Dhawan built up a 98-run stand to take the fight to South Africa. However, after Shikhar Dhawan departed, Virat Kohli tried to rebuild with Shreyas Iyer. But India kept on losing wickets after Kohli’s wicket. Apart from Deepak Chahar’s fighting 34-ball 54 and Suryakumar Yadav’s 32-ball 39, India had no meaningful contribution.
It was Deepak Chahar’s knock that kept India in the match with. He added 55 runs with Jasprit Bumrah for the 8th wicket. His wicket left India with just 10 runs to get but India failed to achieve that after being dismissed for 283.
