On Wednesday, the veteran speedster took to Twitter to explain his decision in a series of tweets. A member of India’s 2007 ICC T20 World Cup-winning team, Sreesanth’s international career came to a standstill for involvement in a spot-fixing scandal. He was currently playing domestic cricket for Kerala, but has now decided to call it a day.

The 39-year-old pacer wrote on Twitter “Today is a difficult day for me, but it is also a day of reflection and gratitude. During my 25 years career as a Cricket player, I’ve always pursued success and winning cricket games, while preparing and training with the highest standards of competition, passion and perseverance. It has been an honor to represent my family.”

- Sreesanth has decided to retire from Indian domestic cricket.
- The Kerala player has played 74 first-class matches, 92 List A games and 65 T20 matches.
- Sreesanth was previously banned from all formats for the game for involvement in an IPL spot-fixing scandal.
- He made a comeback after being named in the 20-member squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2021 for Kerala Cricket Association.
- The 39-year-old speedster has also made 90 appearances for India.
- In 2021 and 2022, he got shortlisted for the IPL auction but went unsold on both the occasions.
