Indian opener Ruturaj Gaikwad revealed that he has been following Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni’s mantra to win matches which he learned playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League.
India won the fourth T20I match against Australia at Raipur Stadium on Friday and clinched the series by 3-1. Ruturaj who has been exceptional in the series, said in the post-match presentation that he follows the game plan which he has learnt from Dhoni.
The Indian opener has played some outstanding knocks in the series. He has also scored his maiden T20I century in the third T20I match.
“I have learn being in CSK, Mahi Bhai was always keen on reading situation and understanding the game, how the game will progress. He sends a message where you have to look for the team score, what the team required in the particular over,” Ruturaj said to Jio Cinema after the match.
He also believes that openers have enough time to settle in T20s and they do not have to rush in the game.
“Mahi bhai has always mentioned that do not try to rush thoughts because in T20 cricket, you are more in rush but their is enough time. Especially as opener, I have around 50 balls to face and if you score 80 off 50 balls than that is good enough for the team. That game plan stuck with me from the time I played with CSK,” he added.
