Ruturaj Gaikwad could be CSK skipper for decade after MS Dhoni: Ambati Rayudu

Former India and CSK player Ambati Rayudu believes Ruturaj Gaikwad has the potential to become the next captain of the Chennai Super Kings after MS Dhoni. He believes Maharashtra batter can lead the five-time IPL champions for the next ten years.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named Team India’s captain for the Asian Games 2023 in China. He has also led Maharashtra in domestic cricket and Puneri Bappa in Maharashtra Premier League 2023 (MPL 2023). In Chennai’s title-winning season in 2023, the right-hand batter scored more than 500 runs.

With MS Dhoni nearing the end of his career, Chennai is looking for a new captain. Ravindra Jadeja was tried, but it backfired brutally in 2022.

England Test captain Ben Stokes has been considered as a possible captain, but his injury-prone body has put a huge question mark on his resume.

Meanwhile, Rayudu refuses to see beyond Ruturaj Gaikwad.

“Ruturaj Gaikwad has a great chance to lead CSK for a decade. MS Dhoni can groom him really well. India should also capitalise Ruturaj well. He should be in the team for all the formats,” Ruturaj Gaikwad told BehindwoodsTV on YouTube.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and his idea of captaincy

Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is currently with the Indian team in the West Indies, will lead the Indian team to the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China. Cricket returns to the Asiad after a nine-year absence, and India will compete in both the men’s and women’s divisions.
