Rusty and Out of Sync: Short comeback for Rishabh Pant in PBKS vs DC clash

PBKS vs DC: Rishabh Pant comeback into cricket cut short, bit rusty and out of sync, DC skipper scores 18 runs

Back at the field after 453 days, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant made a comeback to competitive cricket. But it wasn’t the comeback that Pant was probably expecting. A bit rusty, a bit out of sync, Pant could only managed to score 18 runs from 13 balls. But it is safe to say, expectations weren’t too high from the 26-year-old southpaw.

Rishabh Pant walked to the ground for the first time since his near fatal accident. After 1.5 years of recovery, numerous surgeries the Delhi Capitals skipper walked to a rousing reception from the Punjab Kings and DC fans.

If the question is asked – How did Rishabh Pant fair? The short answer would be – Average. But that won’t be the full answer. Amidst his rustiness, Pant however did show a small glimpse of his swashbuckling hitting.

He might not have hit any sixes, but Rishabh Pant managed to smash 2 boundaries. Batting with a strike rate of 138.46, Pant’s short stay was a bliss for the die-hard Delhi Capitals fans.

Rishabh Pant nearly threw his wicket away early on the game. Harshal Patel dropped a simple catch as the ball jumped into the fence for a four. But Harshal’s only saving grace was the sunlight falling on his eyes.

Pant did showcase his hard hitting style, especially hitting long shots with a single hand. The fans in the ground weren’t disappointed when they say the DC skipper trying to hit some big shots. Albeit a short knock, but it will be a stepping stone for Pant to progress in the coming days.
