Yashasvi Jaiswal is expected to have a stellar Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. However, the start he has got has been poor. In the previous run-fest, he was out for just one. Now, while batting first against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Jaiswal had a frustrating stay of 29 runs in Guwahati.
Jaiswal’s iffy stay at RR vs KKR match
Yashasvi Jaiswal started off the proceedings with a four at fine leg off Spencer Johnson’s bowling. Then, he hit a fabulous six off the Australian in his second over. But that was really it for Jaiswal.
It looked as if, rather than building an innings, Jaiswal tried to hoick every other delivery. He didn’t eye to bat long and seemed desperate to take on the game from ball one.
20 off Jaiswal’s 29 runs came off boundaries. That means, he played 11 dot balls of his other 20 deliveries. When the RR opener was having troubles finding the boundaries, the desperation was clear on his face.
Jaiswal’s mediocre T20 numbers
Jaiswal has managed to score just 30 runs in his first two IPL 2025 matches. No doubt he will dominate all three formats going forward, but his T20 numbers recently have taken a dive.
In his last five T20 matches, Jaiswal has scored just 110, with the highest score being 40 against Sri Lanka. He was retained at a whopping Rs 18 crore by Rajasthan Royals before the IPL 2025 auction, making him the joint highest earner of the franchise alongside Sanju Samson. Even Samson hasn’t had a great start at IPL 2025.
