RR vs GT: Sanju Samson suffers brain fade moment, fails to name playing XI during toss

RR names one change to their playing XI as Kuldeep Sen comes in for Nandre Burger.

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson on Wednesday suffered a brain fade moment at the toss for the game against Gujarat Titans when he was asked about his playing XI. Sanju, who lost the toss and would have to bat first, could not tell the team RR was fielding when he was asked about the changes in his team.

Sanju Samson, who will lead Rajasthan Royals for the 50th time on Wednesday, was asked by the host Pommie Mbangwa about the changes RR have made to the playing XI. However, Sanju appeared clueless, not being able to provide the answer. He fumbled for a while, and then proceeded to say, “Sorry, I’m a bit confused. So you can see it on the screen.”

Samson during the toss said they wanted to bowl first as well.

On being asked if he was unhappy with batting first, he said, “Now I don’t mind. We wanted to bowl first in the wicket but happy to do both.”

Sanju will lead RR for the 50th time on Wednesday. Sanju credited Kumar Sangakara and the RR coaching staff for his longevity as a captain.

“The journey has been very special. But as everyone knows, Leading a team, it can’t be done alone. The support I’ve got from Sanga and the team has been phenomenal,” Sanju said.
