RR vs GT Highlights: Tewatia & Rashid star in come-from-behind win as Rajasthan stunned at home

IPL 2024: Despite losing their first match in the tournament, Rajasthan Royals will remain at the top of the points table, while Gujarat will be in sixth now.

RR vs GT Highlights: In yet another last-ball finish in the IPL 2024, Gujarat Titans defeated the unbeaten Rajasthan Royals, at their fortress, in Jaipur. Leading the match for the major part, it was Sanju Samson-led side lost it in the last two overs, where 37 runs were conceded by Kuldeep Sen and Avesh Khan. And with this, RR succumbed to the first loss of this year’s IPL.

Sanju & Riyan Take RR to Safe Total

Despite scoring only 42/2 in 4.2 overs, Sanju (68 from 38 balls) & Riyan Parag (76 from 48 balls) added 130 runs in quick time, to take their team to 196/3 in 20 overs. Of course, it wasn’t enough on the day, but still that looked like a par score on a Jaipur wicket, that assisted the bowlers. Both the batsmen were at their aggressive best, smashing all the bowlers alike, all over the park.

Shubman Gill Start an Improbable-looking Chase

While Rashid and Rahul Tewatia were undoubtedly the heroes of the chase, but it was skipper Shubman Gill who showed the way to the team, when the runs were hard to come. The opener played a brilliant hand of 72 from 44, that gave some early momentum to GT, and which came to their rescue in the latter part of the innings.

The Rise & Fall of Kuldeep Sen

In the absence of injured Nandre Burger, it seemed like RR had found a gem in Kuldeep Sen. He impressed too, and at one stage had figures of 3/21 in his three overs. But his 19th over saw him leak 20 runs, and when it mattered the most. Nonetheless, he still bowled well for a youngster, who is yet to make a considerable mark on the IPL. He was unbelievable in his first two overs.

The Reaction Says it all

GT was behind on the DLS, when rain arrived. The team was 77/1 in 10 overs, and had to be 84 at that point of time. But that was hardly a barrier for them to stop believing in their ability. Tewatia slammed 22 from 11 while Rashid scored explosive 24 from 11, and hit a four on the last ball of the innings.
