India cricket team stars were stranded in Barbados for a couple of days owing to a cyclone after winning the T20 World Cup 2024. One of the individuals from the broadcast team, who was a part of the contingent that traveled back on an special Air India flight, revealed the experience he had on the flight with the victorious team. The team arrived back in India one month ago to a raucous reception at the Delhi airport followed by a record-breaking turnout for the victory parade in Mumbai.
How team India spent their flight back to home after T20 WC win
As per Hindustan Times, no one in the flight slept for more than six hours. Head coach Rahul Dravid had reportedly ditched the business class and had been looking for a four-seater to sleep on in the economy section. Skipper Rohit Sharma was in his zone, scolding someone in a playful manner while Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya joined the media personnel for an interaction mid-air.
“Rohit Sharma came several times. I believe at one moment, Rahul Dravid came up to the economy section to figure out if there was a 4-seater because he wanted to sleep,” a member of the broadcast team said.
Air India’s AIC24WC, which ferried the team back home, became the most tracked flight during the journey as the country eagerly awaited the arrival of the champions.
Rohit Sharma’s ever-playful nature
“I remember I was sleeping and I could suddenly hear Rohit scolding somebody. I saw and he was standing right there. But Rohit, in his style was scolding jokingly. After that, Hardik came, Rishabh came and they were all having discussions with the media. So obviously, there was a lot of chatter,” he added.

India’s journey to the World Cup trophy was nothing short of remarkable. They remained undefeated throughout the tournament, held across West Indies and the United States.
