“Rohit, Kohli or Dhoni?” – KL Rahul refuses to pick just one of IPL ‘Big 3’ as his 2025 teammate

Rahul hasn't played alongside Rohit or Dhoni in the IPL and has spent just two seasons (2013 and 2016) with Kohli.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and MS Dhoni are undoubtedly the three biggest players of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Since the league’s inception in 2008, no individual really comes close to them. They’ve participated in each edition and have led the biggest franchises, the Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Chennai Super Kings.

You can claim that the franchises have gained fame due to them. This is especially true for Kohli and Dhoni, who’ve been with their teams since the start, making them the two of the most-followed sports teams. Rohit may not have been with Mumbai Indians since the start, but he’s helped them by winning five titles and trying to fill the void left by Sachin Tendulkar.

No answer, the best answer?

Given the opportunity among the three, you’d pick? Fair to say, it won’t be easy. Well, KL Rahul was stumbled by the same question. During a chat with Star Sports, the former Lucknow Super Giants skipper was asked, “Pick an IPL teammate in 2025—Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, or MS Dhoni?”

Rahul wasn’t ready for the question. Instinctively, he might have gone with Kohli. The only player of the three with whom he’s shared the field in the IPL. But, unsure which franchise he’ll go to in the upcoming mega auction, the wicketkeeper batter chose to toe the line.

“I don’t know. It’s a tough one. This is a real pickle you have put me in. I have enjoyed playing with all of them. Very tough to answer,” KL Rahul smartly answered.
