IND vs BAN Test: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli likely to play in Duleep Trophy before start of India vs Bangladesh Test series

The India Cricket Team will next take on Bangladesh in a two match Test series. However, reports claim that ahead of the series, India’s captain Rohit Sharma and ace batter Virat Kohli are likely to play domestic cricket. The selection committee wants the ace duo to play Duleep Trophy.

It is unclear if both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli can play in the opening game of the tournament as the dates would clash with the IND vs BAN Test series. But apart from the rest of the Indian players, it is highly likely that the duo will take part in the tournament.

The clash of dates can cause a big problem for the duo. The Duleep Trophy starts on 5th September and will conclude on 24th September. Meanwhile, the IND vs BAN 1st Test kick starts on 19th September in Chennai.

The BCCI Selection Committee had previously made it clear that even senior players will have to take part in domestic cricket. And thus in this edition of the Duleep Trophy, a plethora of Indian stars will feature in the tournament. These include the likes of Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul and others.

And Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are also no exceptions to the same. Though the star duo are likely to be selected, but their participation continues to be a major doubt. Since the IND vs BAN 1st Test commences in Chennai, a short Indian camp would be held in Chennai. Should the situation arise, then the players would likely feature in the opening round of the tournament, i.e. on 5th September.
