No praise is enough: Rohit Sharma underlines importance of Ashwin as spinner gears up to play 100th Test

In the press conference ahead of the 5th Test, Rohit Sharma termed Ashwin a match winner and said a player like him rarely comes through.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma on Wednesday called off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin a ‘rare talent’ as Ashwin gears up to play his 100th Test match in national colours in the IND vs ENG 5th Test in Dharamshala. Rohit heaped praises on Ashwin, saying no amount of praise is enough for what the off-spinner has achieved.

Ashwin has been tumbling one record after another in the IND vs ENG Test series. In the 3rd Test, Ashwin became only the second Indian spinner after Anil Kumble to take 500 wickets in Test cricket. Ashwin crossed Anil Kumble (350) for most scalps in India in the 4th Test. In the 5th Test, Ashwin will become only the 14th Indian player to play 100th Test for India.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma has seen Ashwin from close quarters, having shared the Indian dressing room with the off-spinner for long. In the press conference ahead of the 5th Test, Rohit Sharma termed Ashwin a match winner and said a player like him rarely comes through.

Big achievement for any player to play 100 Tests. He has been a match winner for us. What he has done for us, no praise is enough,” Rohit said.

His performances over the last five-seven years, every series he has contributed. It is rare to have players like him,” Rohit added.
