Rohit Sharma to CSK? Ambati Rayudu urges ex-MI skipper to don Yellow jersey, leaves captaincy call on him

Rohit's fans were left disappointed when he was removed from MI captaincy, with many urging him to join other teams in search of new challenge.

One of the biggest shock of IPL 2024 came when Mumbai Indians decided to re-signed Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya and replaced Rohit Sharma as the captain of the Mumbai Indians with Pandya. With Rohit dethroned after 10 years of MI reign, questions were raised on if Rohit would stay in the Mumbai Indians team beyond the current season. Now, former Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings batter Ambati Rayudu has said he would like to see Rohit Sharma in CSK colours in the near future.

Rohit Sharma has been one of the most successful captains of the IPL, lifting five trophies in his 10 year reign. However, Mumbai Indians made the unpopular decision of replacing him shortly after the IPL 2024 auction and replaced him with Hardik Pandya, who was brought into the team from Gujarat Titans.

Pandya had successfully led the Titans to their maiden title and two consecutive finals. However, Rohit’s removal wasn’t taken kindly by cricket fans, and many asked Rohit to leave the MI team in search of a new challenge.

Now, Ambati Rayudu has wished for Rohit Sharma’s inclusion in the CSK team in near future.

“I want to see him play for CSK in the near future. He has played so long for Mumbai Indians. It would be nice if he can play for CSK and win there as well. That’s (captaincy at CSK) upon him. Rohit has earned the right to take that call. It’s his call on whether or not he wants to lead or not,” Rayudu told News24.
