Rohit Sharma to “come at No. 3” and Shubman Gill lower down the order, suggests Aakash Chopra

IND vs AUS: Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill have looked woefully out of form in the series Down Under.

A lot is at stake for Team India in the IND vs AUS 4th Test that begins on December 26, at the MCG. And team needs to be wary of the form of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, both of whom have failed to impress in the ongoing series. As per former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra, India should look to make two changes in their batting order — Rohit should bat at No. 3 and Shubman at No. 5 or No. 6.

Promotion for Rohit Sharma?

“Rohit can think of one thing if he wishes. Come at No. 3 and send Shubman down the order,” Aakash said on his YouTube channel. Asked if the duo should be axed from the team, he said, “Nothing of that sort is going to happen and it shouldn’t happen as well. Will there be a change (to his place) – no. Can you leave out Rohit Sharma? Does anyone talk like that about the captain?” he added.

Demotion at MCG for Shubman Gill?

But Chopra did admit that Shubman Gill has been rather poor consistently outside Asia, where he has just one 40-plus score outside Asia, and struggled badly. “I totally understand that it’s been 16 innings for Shubman Gill since he has scored a 40-plus score outside Asia. It’s been a while. You have a lot of expectations from him that he will score runs, and things will change,” he concluded.
