Rohit Sharma takes potshot at Babar Azam & Co? India skipper cryptic post goes viral

Prior to the start of ODI WC 2023, Afghanistan has only ever won one game at a men's Cricket World Cup.

At the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, Afghanistan defeated Pakistan for the first time in an ODI by chasing down a target of 283 with just two wickets lost on Monday. Soon after Afghans’ historic win, India skipper Rohit Sharma took to Instagram to post a cryptic post which went viral. Many thought that Rohit Sharma was taking a potshot at the Babar Azam & Co. So is it true? Let’s check out here.

Prior to the start of this competition, Afghanistan has only ever won one game at a men’s Cricket World Cup.

But to that lone success against Scotland in 2015, this fantastic generation of players has added two enormous victories.

And perhaps even more amazing than defeating England in Delhi was Monday’s victory over Pakistan.

Afghanistan have now successfully chased down a 283-run goal in an ODI, and it ranks as the second-highest total in a Cricket World Cup with eight or more wickets in hand.

With a blistering 65 from 53 balls in a 130-run opening stand with Ibrahim Zadran that set up the record-breaking chase, the 21-year-old Rahmanullah Gurbaz was essential to Afghanistan’s triumph.

As Rahmat Shah (77) and captain Hashmatullah Shahidi (48) finished the pursuit, Ibrahim (87), who had been leading Afghanistan, guided them closer to their goal.

With their Pakistan hoodoo broken and their first multiple victories in a Cricket World Cup secured, Afghanistan can now turn their attention to a run to the semifinals, which will begin with their next game against Sri Lanka on October 30.

Rohit Sharma takes dig?

India captain soon after Afghanistan win, posted a Instagram story in which he could be seen smiling.

Currently, Rohit Sharma is in Dharamshala along with Team India, who all are enjoying their holiday.

After taking a week off, Rohit Sharma and company will start their campaign on October 29 in Lucknow against the reigning champions.

Instead of departing the day following the game, as has been traditional thus far in the World Cup, the Men in Blue have chosen to stay in Dharamsala for two days.

The administration of the Indian squad did a good job of planning the practice sessions, taking into account the fast bowlers’ demanding travel itineraries and workload management.

Veteran players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma might benefit from this rest given the impending crucial games.

Only India has all nine of its league games planned across multiple venues during the ODI World Cup in 2023.
