Rohit, Samson & Narine miss out, Best XI of IPL 2024 after first half of League Stage

We are at the midway point of the group stage of the IPL 2024 season, and so it's time to name our best XI.

We are at the halfway mark of the IPL 2024 League Stage. 35 matches in, we have seen some outstanding performances for expected names like Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, while new faces have also emerged who have shone brightly so far. The difficult task is to make the best XI of the IPL 2024 season by picking and choosing among these star performers.

Unfortunately, not all can make the cut. Multiple-time IPL champions like Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, and Sunil Narine are among the famous few who’ll unfortunately miss out. Others, like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj, haven’t done much to warrant a place for them.

Best XI of IPL 2024 after 35 matches

Travis Head, Virat Kohli (c), Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, Heinrich Klaasen, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Andre Russell, Ravindra Jadeja, Matheesha Pathirana, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah.

Top Order

The two leading run-scorers of the IPL 2024, Kohli and Head, will open the proceedings, with Abhishek taking the number 3 spot. The two SRH southpaws have played with astoundingly high strike rates, while Kohli brings the necessary consistency to the table.

Middle Order

Parag has been a revelation this year and is one of three players with more than 300 runs to their name. Klaasen can bat anywhere from 4 to 7 and has bashed all bowlers alike. Karthik will be the designated finisher following his destructive death over batting in his final season.

Heinrich Klaasen26853.6198.5103
Dinesh Karthik22675.33205.4502

All-rounders

Two different all-rounders with different skills. Russell is a destructive batting all-rounder, while Jadeja is a bowling all-rounder who glues the batting lineup together with his consistent play. Both can be used as batting floaters, depending on the situation. Their bowling is similar to their overall styles; Russell picks wickets, while Jadeja keeps things tight with his defensive lines.

Bowlers

Nothing needs to be said about Bumrah; he’s heads and shoulders above other bowlers in IPL 2024. Pathirana has played just 4 matches but still has 9 wickets to his name and is great in the middle and death overs. Chahal has been a consistent threat this season and has even excelled towards the end despite having little to no success prior.
