He hammered a six on the very second ball he faced and guided a four in the same over. Once Rohit was saved by a close LBW shout, he never looked back. While Shubman Gill kept his wicket intact, Rohit dominated and always kept the Lankan bowlers under pressure.
If they pitched up, he played lofted drives and they just couldn’t afford to bang in short because the Indian skipper is one of the best pullers of the game. Rohit hit his 56th ODI fifty in style with a six, getting there in just 33 balls. While India lost a cluster of wickets after a solid opening partnership of 75 runs, Rohit’s fifty was extremely crucial given the tricky nature of Colombo pitch.
