The memories of India’s World Cup loss against Australia still haunt the players and fans’ memories. Indian captain Rohit Sharma was one of the players to have taken the severe heartbreak hardest. Coming on a reality show alongside Shreyas Iyer, the skipper opened up on the painful loss. Rohit Sharma‘s dismay was obvious again when the World Cup setback was addressed in a question.
Under Rohit’s captaincy, India won ten consecutive matches and surged into the final at home with an undefeated streak, but fell by six wickets to Australia in the summit battle, which was contested at the Narendra Modi Stadium Stadium in Ahmedabad in front of over one lakh people.
” It is very had to say. When we were in Ahmedabad for practice ahead of the game we had a good momentum like the team was on autopilot. But when the match finally started, we made a good start. Gill went out early but Virat [Kohli] and I had a small partnership and we were still confident because, in such matches when you score well at first, you put your opponents under pressure even if it just 100 runs and any team can falter during that pressure. But Australia played really well, despite going down three wickets with just 40 runs, they pulled up really well so that is there. “ said Rohit.
