Rohit Sharma creates history vs CSK, becomes 1st Indian to complete 500 T20 sixes

Rohit Sharma was in beast mode on Sunday when Mumbai Indians took on arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings in Match 29 of IPL 2024

The mega clash between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2024 promised to be an electrifying affair, not just for their rivalry, but also for the rewriting of T20 history. Rohit Sharma, the swashbuckling MI opener and a true legend of the format, achieved a remarkable feat after his fabulous hundred vs CSK.

Prior to the game, Rohit needed just three sixes to becomes the first Indian batsman to smash 500 sixes in T20 cricket. En route to his entertaining innings, Rohit clubbed 11 fours and five sixes and put some real pressure on the CSK bowlers.

With his third six, that came off Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling, made Rohit only the first Indian to complete 500 T20 sixes.

This milestone is a testament to his power-hitting prowess, a defining characteristic that has earned him the well-deserved nickname “Hitman.”

Throughout his illustrious T20 career, Rohit has amassed a phenomenal 11,417 runs. His mastery of the format extends beyond brute force, evidenced by his tally of 1028 fours and 502 maximums.

This season’s IPL has been no different, with Rohit showcasing his sublime touch by scoring 156 runs at a phenomenal strike rate of 167.74.
