Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has become the joint-fastest to score 1000 runs in World Cup. Needing just 21 after a duck against Australia, Rohit played a blazing knock against Afghanistan to complete 1,000 runs and join David Warner as the fastest batter to do so. He has also broken the record of Chris Gayle for most sixes in international cricket in IND vs AFG clash in Delhi.
Before today, the 36-year-old was on the verge of breaking West Indies’ batter Chris Gayle’s record of most sixes in international cricket. Rohit was on 551 sixes and needed just 2 sixes away to surpass Chris Gayle who held the record with 553 sixes.
Earlier, Rohit became the fastest to hit 550 sixes, surpassing Gayle (548) to reach the feat in just 471 innings across formats.

Shahid Afridi (Pakistan) – 476 sixes
