Most sixes in Test: Rohit Sharma leapfrogs MS Dhoni with stunning knock in IND vs ENG 3rd Test

Virender Sehwag tops the list of most sixes in Test for India, with 90 sixes from 103 matches

India skipper Rohit Sharma has surpassed MS Dhoni as the 2nd leading six-hitter by an Indian in Test history. With his stellar maximum in the IND vs ENG 3rd Test, Rohit Sharma scored his 79th to leapfrog Dhoni’s 78. However, Virender Sehwag continues to lead the list with 90 maximums in his career

Rohit surpassed Dhoni on the first day of the Rajkot Test against England. In the second session of the day’s play, the veteran sent Joe Root over wide mid-on for a huge six. Rohit made it seem effortless, as he cleared the ropes with ease.

The India skipper has played fewer Test matches compared to Dhoni and Sehwag. In 97 Test innings, Rohit Sharma has smashed 79 Test sixes. Over his nearly 10-year Test career, Sharma has participated in 57 Test matches for Team India. While MS Dhoni’s 78 came from 90 games and 144 innings.

Although he has been a vital component in limited overs cricket, the Mumbai batsman initially struggled to fulfil his potential in Test cricket. However, since transitioning to an opener role in the longest format in 2019, Rohit has displayed significant improvement and maturity as a batsman.
