Indian captain Rohit Sharma is renowned for his sense of humour, often showcasing it both on and off the field. Recently, he took to Instagram to applaud the young talents who shone for the team during the third Test against England in Rajkot. India’s victory, by a massive 434-run margin, marked the largest in Indian Test cricket history.
In his Instagram story, Rohit Sharma shared images of Dhruv Jurel’s run-out of Ben Duckett, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan celebrating the former’s double century. With a touch of cheekiness, Rohit commented on the younger generation, writing: “Kids these days I tell you!”
The first innings of the match saw Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja as standout performers for India. Mohammed Siraj displayed an impressive display of bowling, particularly on Day 2, where his yorker barrage dismantled England’s lower order.
Subsequently, it was the youthful trio of Sarfaraz, Jaiswal, and Shubman Gill who dominated England with their aggressive batting, contributing to India’s commanding a lead of 557 runs.
England’s struggle continued into the final innings, resulting in their lowest-ever total in the Bazball era, as they were bowled out for just 122 runs.
Dhruv Jurel sends Ben Duckett back:
In a spectacular display of wicket-keeping, debutant Druv Jurel, with assistance from Mohammed Siraj, dismissed Ben Duckett with a remarkable run-out.
Duckett’s pursuit of a single led to a mix-up as Crawley signalled him back too late. Siraj swiftly threw the ball, and wicketkeeper Dhurv Jurel swiftly broke the stumps in motion.
Yashasvi Jaiswal-Sarfaraz Khan power India:
Meanwhile, Jaiswal achieved his second Test double-century, following his first in the previous Test in Vizag. His unbeaten 216 off 296 deliveries included 16 boundaries and 12 sixes, elevating his series tally to 545 runs in six innings.
Sarfaraz contributed with his second consecutive fifty in his debut Test, scoring 68* off 72 balls, forming a 172-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
