After being roped in by the Punjab Kings for a staggering sum of INR 18.5 crore in IPL 2023, England’s dynamic all-rounder Sam Curran emerged as the costliest purchase in a single season in IPL history. Recently, Curran disclosed the names of three batsmen he dreams of dismissing to complete a T20 hat-trick.
In a conversation with ESPNcricinfo, Curran unveiled his fantasy T20 hat-trick targets, starting with Mumbai Indians’ former skipper and opener Rohit Sharma, followed by Kolkata Knight Riders’ all-rounder Andre Russell, and Rajasthan Royals’ white-ball captain and opener Jos Buttler.

Sam Curran made slow start to IPL 2024
Despite his record-breaking deal, Curran was dethroned as the most expensive IPL player in 2024 when the Kolkata Knight Riders secured Australian pacer Mitchell Starc for INR 24.75 crore in the mini-auction. In IPL 2023, Curran showcased his prowess by featuring in 14 matches for PBKS, tallying 276 runs at an average of 27.60 and claiming 10 wickets with an economy rate exceeding 10.
In the ongoing IPL 2024 season, Curran has participated in four matches, accumulating 91 runs at an average of 22.75, including a half-century, and picking up four wickets at an average of 21.50, showcasing a notable improvement from the previous season. PBKS is set to host Pat Cummins’ Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MYS Cricket Stadium in Tira, Punjab, on Tuesday, April 9, in IPL 2024.
