Rohit Sharma joins Virat Kohli & MS Dhoni on elite list of Indian captains

After adding 37 runs in his innings against England in the T20 World Cup semifinal, Rohit Sharma now has 5013 runs in his career.

India is known for producing world-class batters capable of decimating any bowler in the world. There have been Indian batters who have scored many runs and achieved various records in international cricket, where run-making is considered a tough job. These Indian batters have also led their teams from the front as captains, and scored tons of runs.

Recently, Rohit Sharma, who is doing wonders with the bat and is also leading the team in the T20 World Cup 2024, added another batting record to his name. The ‘hitman’ became the fifth Indian captain to score 5000 runs. As mentioned, there are many who have made India proud with their batting. Sharma, after adding 37 runs in his innings against England in the T20 World Cup semifinal, now has 5013 runs in his cabinet across formats. The Hitman has left a mark as a selfless batter, always putting the team first. Still, he manage to add these many runs is nothing short of impressive.

Former captains are also adding charm to the list

The run machine Virat Kohli and the most successful Indian captain, MS Dhoni, add charm to this list with their batting performances. Virat Kohli has an unbelievable 12,883 runs in his 16-year-long career across all three formats.

On the other hand, MS Dhoni, known for his unorthodox batting, has 11,207 runs to his name. Apart from them, Sourav Ganguly, who transformed the Indian side and is known as the ‘off-side king’, has 7,643 runs. Meanwhile, Mohammad Azharuddin, who holds the record for three hundred in his first three Tests, has 8,095 runs in his long career.
