India Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma has been grabbing the headlines after India’s stellar win in the Cape Town. But he might be in trouble. Sharma after the Cape Town complained about ICC and match referees’ double standards in terms of pitch conditions. For his vicious rant, Rohit Sharma can face any sanctions by the ICC but that is very unlikely.
While Boxing Day Test ended on Day 3, the New Year’s Test in Cape Town ended within 1.5 days. Day 1 produced 23 wickets as the pacers had a field-day. Naturally eyebrows were raised about the pitch conditions.
Following the win in Cape Town, Rohit Sharma hit back at the ICC. He went on to claim that he has no problem playing un such pitches as long as others keep their mouth shuts when they come and play in India. He indirectly blasted the ICC for their hypocrisy and double standards.
“We all saw what happened in this Test match and how the pitch played. I honestly don’t mind playing on pitches like these as long as everyone keeps their mouth shut in India and don’t talk about Indian pitches,” said Rohit Sharma after the match.
“That’s my judgement, my opinion and I’ll stick by it. I’ve seen enough cricket and enough of how these match referees and ICC looks into these ratings. I don’t have an issue on how you rate, but stay neutral,” Rohit concluded.
For this explosive rant, Rohit Sharma can be in big trouble. The India Cricket Team skipper can be sanctioned by the ICC for his outburst. On the other hand, the ICC is likely to hand out demit points for the Newlands pitch.
