With Rohit Sharma gone as captain, the Mumbai Indians (MI) have already started losing. However, “this loss” isn’t on the field but off it. With the news of Hardik Pandya becoming MI’s new skipper, the franchise has lost the tag of the most followed team on Instagram. As they say, one man’s loss is another’s gain. With MI losing their most-followed crown, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have come in and scooped the record under their noses.
It is not as if CSK has gained followers; rather, the Mumbai Indians have lost them. As Rohit Sharma was removed from the captaincy, his fans seemed disgruntled by the decision and decided to unfollow the franchise online.
CSK become most followed IPL team on Instagram
CSK already held the most-followed team crown on X (formerly Twitter) with 10.1 million followers. But now, they have overtaken their biggest rival, MI, on Instagram as well. As of now, CSK has 13 million followers on Instagram, whereas the Mumbai Indians have slipped from 13.2 to 12.9 million followers ever since news of Rohit Sharma being removed as skipper.
