Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has made a tall claim about Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir amid the ongoing IND vs AUS Test series. After starting off Border-Gavaskar Trophy on a winning note with a 295-run victory in Perth, Rohit Sharma and co. were handed a 10-wicket thrashing in Adelaide. Their woes multiplied in the rain-hit IND vs AUS 3rd Test in Brisbane as the visitors witnessed a top-order collapse once again.
Ex-PAK star alleges rift between Rohit Sharma & Gautam Gambhir
In a video on his YouTube channel, Basit Ali has claimed that Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir were not on the same page. He said that the duo were not aligned in their though processes during the home series against Bangladesh and New Zealand and during the 2nd and 3rd Tests in Down Under. Further, Ali claimed that Rohit Sharma and former coach Rahul Dravid enjoyed a more cordial relationship.
“Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir are not on the same page, be it the one-day tournament in Sri Lanka; Bangladesh, which was a weak series; or the New Zealand series after that. In the second and third Tests, Rohit and Gambhir are not on the same page, like Rahul Dravid was. He and Rohit were not on the same page,” Basit Ali said.

Both Rohit Sharma’s captaincy and Gautam Gambhir recent track record as coach are under-fire. It all started with India lost a home series to New Zealand 0-3 just before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. While the team returned to winning ways under Jasprit Bumrah’s captaincy in Perth, the team suffered a defeat in the very next game as Rohit returned to the side. Since taking over the reins from Rahul Dravid earlier this year, Gambhir has only managed to win three out of 7 Tests that India have played so far.
India find themselves in a precarious position in IND vs AUS 3rd Test in Brisbane as well and are likely to lose the match, if rain does not save the team. After allowing Australia to amass a huge 445-run total in the 1st innings, the Indian top-order once again collapsed, with the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant flopping at the Gabba. All eyes and hopes will be on Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul on Day 4. India will hope that the Hitman finds his golden touch once again and break free from the shackles of poor form.
