Rohit Sharma fit for IND vs PAK T20 World Cup clash, team not to file any complaint for Nassau pitch: Report

IND vs IRE: The Nassau County pitch has been poor so far, where the bounce has been hard to judge, and doesn't meet the T20 World Cup standards.

The India vs Ireland encounter in New York’s Nassau County Stadium have once again brought under scanner, the health of the pitch. A semi-dangerous track with huge open cracks saw India skipper Rohit Sharma cop a blow on his bicep in his innings of fifty on Wednesday, where he had to retire hurt.

Rohit Sharma Sore, But to Play in IND vs PAK

But a BCCI source told PTI that skipper Rohit Sharma should be fine for the IND vs PAK match. “Rohit’s injury isn’t serious. He himself said that it’s a bit sore. He should be okay for Pakistan game as of now. There are two practice sessions before that,” a senior BCCI source said.

While the threat with the fresh, unused pitch continues, the Indian team management is unlikely to file any complaint for the same. “It is actually a very fresh pitch. There is a fair grass cover but along with it are big cracks. So it will seam but also take off from length. Now when you have a fresh track like this, you first try out a few games like you do beta testing with a new app.

“Then you release it in the market. It is not a T20 wicket and all four tracks look same,” someone closely associated with Indian team said.

“One should be glad that nothing serious happened to Rohit and Rishabh (Pant). They are fine,” the source added. On the other hand, Ireland’s Harry Tector was hit on the gloves, and then the helmet by Jasprit Bumrah.

“Look, we definitely want to promote cricket in America, but this pitch is not safe for players. If we had a pitch like this in India, a match would never be played there again for a very long time,” Irfan Pathan said on Star Sports.
