Two years ago, it was Virat Kohli who singlehandedly won the India vs Pakistan match at the MCG in the T20 World Cup. A knock that was labeled as the greatest in T20 history. However, that inning of a lifetime won’t happen again, and India cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma understands that.
Before India and Pakistan meet once again at the Nassau Cricket Stadium on June 9, Rohit clearly stated that he wants the whole team to perform collectively and not rely on one individual. It’s clear that he wants the Men in Blue, to step up and not be too dependent on Virat Kohli, who has been India’s greatest batter in the T20 World Cup.
“I don’t want to rely on one individual to win us the game. Everyone needs to chip in, ” Rohit Sharma said on Virat Kohli before the IND vs PAK match.
Rohit Sharma shows full faith in Virat Kohli
Rohit backed his teammate to come good in the India vs Pakistan match despite him missing the India vs Bangladesh warm-up and his poor returns in the India vs Ireland match. The Indian skipper praised Kohli’s ‘wealth of experience’ and said his past successes were enough for him and the Indian management.
“He didn’t play the Bangladesh game. He didn’t have a great outing in the first game, but we all know he brings in a wealth of experience,” Rohit said in the pre-match press conference.
