Rohit Sharma and co. are all set to get Rs 58 crore as cash prize from the BCCI for winning the Champions Trophy

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a heft cash prize of Rs 58 crore for Team India following their Champions Trophy win. Rohit Sharma and co. clinched the trophy, ending India’s 12-year-long wait. This reward comes in addition to the Rs 20 crore prize money that India have already received on winning the tournament.

BCCI handsomely rewards India for Champions Trophy glory

The cash prize of Rs 58 crore from the BCCI is allocated for all the India cricket team members, including the support staff. Rohit & co. completed the tournament without losing a single game. They ended their jinx in the final of an ICC ODI event after beating New Zealand to lay their hands on the silverware.

Winning back-to-back ICC titles is special and this reward recognizes Team India’s dedication and excellence on the global stage. The cash award is a recognition of the hard work that everyone puts in behind the scenes,” BCCI president Roger Binny said.

India started off their Champions Trophy campaign with a dominating 6-wicket win against Bangladesh. They next took down arch-rivals Pakistan in an emphatic fashion with the same 6-wicket margin. Rohit Sharma and co. finished the group stage unbeaten after handing New Zealand a 44-run defeat.

The Men in Blue buried the ghosts of the 2023 ODI World Cup final by knocking Australia out of the tournament in the semi-finals. In the ultimate contest, India defeated New Zealand by four wickets to lift the Champions Trophy for the first time since 2013.
